Ballpark Music

Föhn is a new project formed at the end of 2018 by Italian avant garde musician, poet and improviser Napo Camassa III with Gare du Nord Records regulars Joss Cope and Ian Button. The trio have put together an album built on improvised studio pieces combined with Camassa's lyrics and spoken word surrealism that mixes up skewed West Coast pop, garage/space rock, electronica and post punk - all three members sharing vocals, instruments and songwriting.

Napo Camassa III hails originally from Taranto in Southern Italy, and a late 60s/early 70s underground music scene that's largely undiscovered, and distinctly different from the now better known Italian prog or kraut/electronic rock of that time. He's been involved in improvised music for many years - playing sax, harmonica and keyboards primarily - collaborating recently with Berlin band Camera, and releasing his own most recent experimental album (Zenlo – Skelethal Antics) in 2009.

Joss Cope has a pedigree stretching back to the Liverpool post punk scene and early Creation Records. He's worked with his elder brother Julian, made videos, campaigned for Greenpeace, and played guitar and bass for a number of bands in recent years before teaming up with some top Helsinki musicians to make his own debut solo record for Gare Du Nord in 2017.

Ian Button is a former guitarist for Thrashing Doves and Death In Vegas, now prolific producer/drummer, and leader of pop collective Papernut Cambridge. Button co-founded Gare Du Nord Records in 2013.
